CINEMATOGRAPHY

Michael Turano is a Chicago based director of photography with over two decades of experience in broadcast, cable, corporate, educational, documentary and non-profit production. He is highly skilled and comfortable working on location or in studio with small or large crews. 

Michael began his career as an editor, seeing what works, and that perspective informs his work as a cinematographer. He also built a solid foundation with stints as an assistant cameraman and as a grip. Lighting, framing and fluid camera movement are his focus, but he is equally adept at collaborating and managing on set.

As technology changes his work continues to evolve. Extensive experience gives him the ability to remain calm and to find quick solutions to creative problems, but he is always looking beyond the quick fix for new ways to tell stories.

Michael’s career has taken him throughout the United States and the world, including Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
